Why Read?

Books have the power to change us. They inspire us to become more thoughtful, more perceptive, more awake, more alive. They allow us to enjoy the company of fine minds and hearts—their thoughts and feelings transfixed in paper and ink. Books serve as mirrors, helping us to reflect upon our experiences, to understand our lives with greater acuity and depth. They also serve as windows, revealing corners of the universe beyond the borders of our personal experiences. Books enlarge us; they enlarge the world of our understanding.
